Hello Scrap Matrix Friends,
Deb here, I was ever so surprised, and extremely excited when Vicki invited me back as a Guest Designer for the May challenge. I mean, who wouldn't want the opportunity to create with the gorgeous supplies on offer at Scrap Matrix, right?
The May challenge has the theme: "The Point Is" and can be taken however you want it to be.
With this layout I went with the obvious :)
I started with a sheet of paper from the Stamperia Atelier paper pack, and spread a thin layer of Dina Wakely Clear Gesso over it. I then took the #20 stencil from AALL @ Create and used Finnabair Heavy Black Gesso and Dina Wakely Acrylic Paint in Ruby, in various places on the background.

Once dry, I took the diamonds stamp from the JOYF 34 Paper Artsy stamp set and stamped on the background with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I use the Mini Ink pads for 2 reasons - I dont use a lot of ink, so therefore I can buy more colours if I get the mini's, lol.
I backed the photo of no 1 son tipping in the winning points in the 2017 U22 basketball preliminary final with navy cardstock and then took a piece of paper from the Art Journey 6x6 paper pad by 13 @rts. I used a notebook edge punch on the paper and placed it under the matted photo on the left hand side. I also punched a smaller piece for the bottom right hand side.
When I sat the photo onto the page, I wasnt happy with how flat it looked, so too the diamonds stamp and stamped some more onto the remainder of the 13 @arts paper. I fussy cut the stamp out and used Xpress it foam mounting tape for dimension.
I took an arrow from the Wood Veneer Loving Arrows set and ran the Tim Holtz stamp pad over it. I also added some arrow words from the Mambi Chips Hey You set.
The title chipboard alphas were from the Alphabet No 1 and again inked with Tim Holtz ink. I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher as well.
I put the layout together, and thought it was missing something, so after everything was stuck down (!) picked up the diamonds stamp and some black ink and added more stamping. I finished off with my journalling, which I hadnt actually planned so didnt really fit where I wanted it to. The final addition was some white dots using a white Sharpie.

Thank you for stopping by today and checking out my layout. I hope you gained some inspiration for the challenge!!
