'Dream Love' by Elisa Ablett

Hi Scrap Matrix fans,

Elisa here from the design team with my latest layout and step by step tutorial for Scrap Matrix.

Vicki from Scrap Matrix stocks an amazing array of the quality 13 Arts products which feature heavily on my layout. Make sure you follow the links and head on over to check out the range of inks, papers, embellies, stencils and other awesome products.

I decided to use the awesome new collection by Aida Domisiewicz from 13 Arts called 'Art Journey', a gorgeous 12 x 12 Mandala stencil by Kinder Kreations and Ayeeda Pastel Mist in Coral, Mint and Turquoise AND of course many more gorgeous products from the shop. Follow the tutorial to find out !

First step - Using a craft mat, lay your stencil down and spray your combined colours directly onto half of the stencil, trying to keep them in lines and not over the top of each other. Then carefully flip the stencil and press down onto a sheet of 13 Arts - Art Journey - Imagination paper, smooth the back of your stencil with your hand gently or with a brayer. Lift your stencil carefully.

Add a little colour to the centre of your stencilled Mandala by using a paintbrush and a small amount of each colour of the Ayeeda Sprays.

Using White Ayeeda 'Splash' Ink  and a ruler, use the dropper with ink on it to draw a few lines down the edge of the stencilled Mandala from the top to the bottom. This is where you will Stencil with modelling paste. Then as per the photo below spray a bit more of the Coral and Turquoise Pastel Spray on the right hand side of your layout.

Next I used a gorgeous 13 Arts stencil - Aria Song with Modelling Paste and added some texture to my layout over the top of the white ink lines and sprayed colour.

Next gesso your Scrap Matrix Brass Butterfly and then spray the edges with Coral Pastel Ayeeda Spray Mist and then colour the inside of the butterfly with 13 Arts Turquoise Glitter Ink.

Gesso your Scrap Matrix - Chipboard pieces and your 13 Arts - Art Journey Chipboard titles Dream and Love.

Once you have gesso'd and your chipboard is dry, add colour to your pieces by using the inner tube from your 13 Arts Pastel Ayeeda Mists.

and then fussy cut your turquoise flowers from the 13 Arts - Art Journey - Freedom Sheet

Last steps - Mat your photo in 13 Arts - Art Journey - Destination paper and Coral cardstock, then stick all your elements to the page as per the main photo. Add splashes of the white Splash Ink from 13 Arts.

Here are some close ups of the finer details -

Here is the main photo again !

Well that's it from me today, I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial!

Don't forget to visit the Scrap Matrix shop for all your mixed media needs!

Hugs

Elisa xx

Art Journal Cover...... By Rachel Dutko

Hi everybody

Its Rachel Dutko here, back for my second guest post for Scrap Matrix.

Today I am sharing some projects in my art journal. I finally took the plunge and worked on the cover of my Dina Wakley Media Journal. I used some amazing products from Scrap Matrix, and I'm really happy with the result.

Here's a look at the cover.

And now here's a look at the steps I took to create my cover.

I used some Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic paint in Sky, Lime and Lemon, as well as Dylusions paint in London Blue and Calypso Teal and Colour Blast White Heavy Gesso on a Gel Press plate to create the background. I really love the distressed look that this creates.

I then added some more Dina Wakley Media acrylic paint in Tangerine and Magenta through a Finnabair 'Weaving' stencil, and some Dina Wakley stamps.

For the main focus I used some Colour Blast Colour Paste through a Kinder Kreations mandala stencil and a 13 Arts word stencil.  I've used 'Singin The Blues' and 'Royalty' on the mandala and 'Bling' for the words. The best tip I have for using Colour Blast Colour Paste is to leave the seal on so the paste doesn't dry out too quickly in the pot.

I added some highlights with a gold and then a black Sharpie.
My last embellishment was to colour some Kinder Kreations Geo chipboard stars with 'Lipstick' Colour Blast Colour Paste.

I have also created a page within the journal with the same process, but this time I featured some 13 Arts word stickers.

Elena's Challenge Share

Hello everyone!
With you is Elena and it is my first project! I am happy to be a part of this remarkable team!

Here is the remarkable mood board and I have made the first project!

Yet unfortunately I have no workshop or the room where I can spread out the wonderful materials, instead I have a big spacious case and a big table! It is my dream to have my own space!
For now most of all I love to use paints, splashes, wonderful inspiring phrases!  Let's look!

I used many items from 13 arts - wonderful chipboard, cool phrases with stickers, papers, and I added mixed media - many splashes!
I also used Scrap Matrix Flower Metals

I like to work more creatively and not standardly, and same as me the page has turned out!
Probably, when my dream comes true and I have a room for scrapbooking, she will be super creative! I will surely show her to you!

                                                         Thanks for attention! See you!

Lydia's Challenge Share

Hello everyone, Lydia here to share my first project as part of the Scrap Matrix Team. I'm so excited to be here to share and inspire you all.

My first project to share with you all is apart of the September Moodboard challenge to show us your creative space, which you can join in over on the Scrap Matrix Share Facebook group. Be sure to head over to the group and enter for you chance to win a Scrap Matrix voucher thanks to Vicki.

And as I am sure you have seen the moodboard here it is again.

As for my project here is a scrapbook layout sharing five things about my creative space.

Now this a little bit different for me as this mixed media layout does not have any photos. But I thought what better why to show you all my creative space then to share five things about it and add some photos to this blog post of my space.

So for my background I used Tim Holz Mini Distress Inks. I used the colours Peacock Feathers, Tattered Rose and Mustard Seed to give a water coloured effect background.

For each of the numbers I fussy cut out of Pink Paislee's C'est La Vie paper #07. I love how the numbers worked so perfectly as I share five things about my creative space.

For number three I used chipboard piece from the store and used Dylusions Bubblegum Pink to give it a vibrant colour pop.

As a 16 year old I still live at home with my parents and younger sister so I have my creative space in my bedroom. I am lucky enough with how big my space is since it is in my bedroom. Overall my creative space is full of colour and has many vintage cameras and typewriters around it. I love where I create.

Thank you for all popping in to have a look at my creative space and I hope you all head over to the Scrap Matrix Share Facebook group and enter the first of many Scrap Matrix challenges.

I will be back very soon to share another project.

Rebecca's Challenge Share

Hi Everyone,

Rebecca here with you today to share with you my first official design team post.

Have you you seen our beautiful mood board for the challenge this month? we would love you to all join in. Thanks to Vicki, our challenge winner will win a voucher to the Scrap Matrix store where you will be able to choose some wonderful crafting items for yourself.

Take a little look at the mood board and feel inspired......

We would all love to see where you create, where is your space? where is your happy crafting zone?

All entries can be shared via the Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook page, we have an album ready for you there to upload your images.  I am very much looking forward to seeing your entries and letting us all share our creative spaces together.

Now, I am pleased (and a little ashamed) to show you my 'Creative Mess' (literally). I am the sort of lady that has a pristine house but when it comes to my craft studio it is a MESS and very very big mess. I attempt to keep this space tidy, but well, it just doesn't work too well. My inner piglet is released here and I have learnt to deal with the fact that my messy side has to be released somewhere.

When we moved from the sea side up to the Perth hills we were fortunate enough to purchase a home that previously had an at home daycare attached. This room was quickly converted to my craft studio. It does have the potential to look like this when I get in the mood to clean it (I will be honest, it is rare it looks like this).

Ok, lets get back to my layout now. This month I had the pleasure of working with the 7 Dots Studio 'Fortune Teller' collection.  What a seriously amazing collection, there are just so many amazing elements here to work with, lots to fussy cut, lots to layer. There is just so much versatility with this beautiful collection. It was an absolute pleasure to create with.

Below you will see fussy cut papers, layered tags, cut Scrap Matrix metal embellishments, vintage sheet music, metallic string, German Scrap, chipboard and lace. Never be afraid to experiment, with different combinations.

With a good strong pair of scissors you can cut your metal embellishments and often turn them into something else.

Scrap Matrix products used for this project include.....

7 Dots Studio Fortune Teller Charted 12" Paper
7 Dots Studio Fortune Teller Palmistry 12" Paper
7 Dots Studio Fortune Teller Soul 12" Paper
