Mark Making
with Lisa Amiet

Hello all!
It's Lisa here on the blog today,
to share an art journal page,
inspired by this month's challenge

This is what I have come up with

So I have first started by adding some colour to my page.
I have used the 'Dina Walkey Acrylics in Lemon, Blush, Turquoise & Eggplant'.
I have also used some 'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paints in Granny Smith'
I have smeared them thinly across my page.
I have scratched in some patterns to the wet paint.

I have then used the '7 Dots Studio Droplets Stencil'
and 'Ranger Archival Ink in Black' to stencil droplets onto my page.

I have then used an assortment of stamps to stamp out some florals and foliage,
such as the 'Carabelle Studio Scribbled Leafs and Textured Circles',
to build the flowers and foliage.
I have added more on my background with the 'Paper Artsy ETS02' stamps, and the
'7 Dots Studio Northern Night Stamps'

Next, I have started some doodling. I have added some grass to the bottom of my page.

I have added some more doodling to the sides.

This is not what I was aiming for,
a few things didn't work for me on the day, but
I learned a few new things.

I hope you have fun with this challenge, and make your mark on it.

Until next time!!

Lisa

Gel Printing Art Journal Page

Morning everyone, today I am sharing an art journal page that I have created using scraps of Gel prints that I had left over from my first project

I have used the Art by Marlene Art Journal - love the fact that you can remove the pages and work with the singularly.

I randomly placed the gel prints around the page and stuck down with Matte Medium.

Once dry I I have then used Paper Artsy Paints and JOFY Stencil PS139

I have made some more marks using an old papertowl roll covered with bubble wrap and paint

I have then stamped my image using Paper Artsy Stamp ETS29 designed by Tracy Scott (Love this stamp!)  I have then used Paper Artsy paint in white to push everything around the flowers to the background.

I have used a white Posca pen to go around the petals very roughly and added some splashing of white and Tango Paper Artsy paints.

A little black ink around the edges, random marks on the page with my Fudeball pen and some saying from 13Arts Word Sheets and my page is complete.

I hope that you have enjoyed this little process and have a go at this months challenge - Gel Printing and Mark Making

Til next time - happy crafting

Leaving My Mark with Jen.

Hi I'm back again with my second project for the month.

Firstly I will admit that this did not go the way I planned. I had a very different page in mind when I saw of this month's challenge, but I got some new colours from Paperartsy in the mail from Scrap Matrix and just had to have a play.

I grabbed a page from my Art by Marlene medium journal and sponged, painted and smeared the Fresco Finish Acrylic Paints all over it.  Occasionally spritzing water over it to try and get a watercolour feel to it, this sometimes worked but not well with the green colours for some reason.

I then made marks with different sized brushes, lids and the side of a spatula.

Next I added some details with my Posca pens.

I also had my small Dylusions Creative Journal on my desk and decided to use the same paints on it rather than wasting the leftovers.  I grabbed various stencils from The Crafter's Workshop and Paperartsy and sponged paint all over.  Again I used several brushes to make some marks and added details with my pens.

Very different to what I had planed.

There's not much time left for you to enter this month's challenge, so grab your paints and leave your mark.  Don't forget to share them on the Scrap Matrix Share Page.

Bye for now.

Jen.

What do to with all those "Disaster" prints.. By Tanya Froud

Hi there Tanya here with my second share for the month..

Now I'm sure we all have been playing with our Gel Plates, and I'm sure that you have a pile that didn't make the cut!!!

I know I sure do! Now what can we do with these so we don't waste them?? Rip them up of course!!!!

This first art Journal Page was done with bits of ripped up disaster pieces that could have gone to the bin, but the colors were still kinda pretty so they stayed on the heap.

Once i ripped them i stuck them all down with Mat Gel Medium and dried it.
Once dry i stamped with Art Foamies and doodled with Posca Pens.

On my Gel Plate I prefer to use Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic paint.

My second Art Journal page was also a piece that ended up on the scrap heap... I simply stamped with art Foamies and added some doodling with a irresistable pico embellisher to the page to bring it all together. Both these project also have stencils and quotes from Tim Holtz

Well Thats it from me this month. I do hope you are all having lots of fun "Making you Mark!"

Mark making and gel printing: On the good ship lollipop!

Hello,
I had a lot of fun experimenting with this technique, which is called resist printing. In my excitement, I forgot to take a photo of the original picture from the magazine... silly me!!

You can use any sort of book paper or magazine. Some papers don't work as well as others so it is a bit trial and error but the results are worth it.
I started with a thin layer of black acrylic paint on my gel plate. The next step is to press the magazine paper on, gently rub the surface and then pull the paper off. I then let this dry on the gel plate, before adding a thin layer of colour. I chose a couple of Paper Artsy paints in pastel tones. Using a piece of  plain, white paper, I pulled the print straight away. With gelatos and my watercolour brush, I added skin tone shading to  my Shirley Temple

I made my lollipops using Art by Marlene Foamies on a gel printed paper. For this I used paints and stencils. I don't clean the plate between prints which brings patches of other colours through from the last print. Every print you make is unique.

As I mentioned earlier, I forgot in my excitement to take a photo of the page I had originally used. Below is a sample of another print I made with a different page, which I will have a play with in the coming weeks.

I hope you try this technique... it is so much fun and full of surprises. Looking forward to seeing what you create for this months challenge.... Enjoy.

Tam makes Marks!!!

Hi, it's Tam back again to share my next creation for the
'Gel Printing and Mark Making Challenge'.

Today I've done another Art Journal Page in my large Dylusions Art Journal....

Layer upon layer of colour and marks!!

Let's take a look at where I started...

I used a whole stack of PaperArtsy Fresco Paints.
I love how they layer.
I think because of the different levels of cover - opaque, translucent, semi-opaque etc it really makes it work.

I began by adding loads of colour.
I didn't overthink it, I just worked on getting colour down.

From here I began to add some stencil marks and some painted circles.

I used a 7Dots Stencil, and a stencil by Carabelle Studio - Lit De Petites
I added paint through the stencil with a sponge.

I also used a couple of stencils by TCW -6x6 " texture love (this one is just perfect for mark making), and  6x6" BrickPoetry.
I added white paint, and whilst wet rubbed a wet wipe through the stencil to remove some.

I kept going, adding some hand painted bits. layering more stencils and colours.

The blue open circles were made with the end of an alfoil roll.
You really can use absolutely anything to make marks....

At this point, I added black to my circles.
Right here is where I freaked out and thought I'd ruined it.
AAARRGH
But remember when you feel its ruined, it just means you need to keep going....the magic is right around the corner.

I added some more black and then lots of white bits and suddenly I was happy.

So I finished it off by adding some alpha stickers from the pack Art by Marlene Whimsy Stickers.

There you have it....an explosion of colour.

So what are you making your mark on?
I look forward to seeing...
