Summer Lovin with Lisa Amiet

Hello Scrap Matrix Fans!
It's Lisa here today to share some Summer Lovin'
for this month's challenge!

Well, I don't know about you but I have some definite colours in mind when I think of summer.
These are the colours that I have used in my latest art journal page.

I have created this page in my 

'Dylusions Creative Journal - Large' 

I have started with a coat of 'Liquitex Gesso', to seal my page.

I have then used some 'Finnabair Light Paste', to 

randomly smear over my page with a palette knife.

Once dried I have applied some rough strokes of 

'Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paint', in 'Lemon'. 

Next I have used my '7 Dots Studio Paintchips Hatched Stencil',

and applied 'Distress Ink' in 'Peacock Feathers',

with a 'Blending Tool'

My next step was to add some more colour. 

I had the intention of covering a lot of this so I have left it very rough.

I have used more of my 'Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paints' in

'Eggplant' and 'Blushing' and some

'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paint' in 'Granny Smith'.

I have also added some torn pieces of 'Collage Paper #3',

from Art by Marlene.

My next step was to cut the arched windows,

 from the black printed collage paper in the 

'Dina Wakley Media Collage Papers Background'

and adhered them to my page.

I wanted to soften the edges of the cut windows, 

so I have used my Gesso and the paints used earlier,

along with the best tools I have, 

my trusty fingers, to smear more paint on my page. 

I have then used my 'Carabelle Studio Scribbles Leaves & Textured Circles' stamps,

 to stamp the leaf stems, with 'Archival Ink' in black.

I have then also splashed around some

'Dylusions Black Marble' Ink. 

Some close ups of the yummy colours and textures.

I have used a couple of the quotes, cut from the

'Dina Wakley Media Collage Papers Background'.

I am in love with these quotes, 

they seem to speak to me.

This one is my favourite.

Hi There..

I can hardly believe we are starting a new year!!
For my first share for the year I have created a Art Journal page, which i ended up liking so much I framed it to hang up.

To start I did a blended background using Distress inks and a make up blender sponge. I then flicked some drips of water to create a some "bleached" splatters. I then used  a circle stencil for Aall & Create, and TCW dabbing ink through the stencil and some random stamping using a Carabelle Stamp.

I then stamped a face from Dina Wakley,  then I painted the area of the face white some white Gesso. I then stamped the same face onto some white tissue paper and cut out. I glued the tissue paper face over the face that i had painted white. this allowed the colors of the background to faintly show through.

White a black water proof pen I sketched the girls hair flowing upwards as if blowing in the wind. I then painted this in with white Gesso.
Using some scrap of the white tissue I dyed it with some Distress Inks and spritz of water, i died it and then collaged it into place over the girls hair.

To Finnish I added some doodling on the background and a quote that I did on my Dymo.

Colours of Summer - Ode to our Firemen

Summer is such a wonderful season. I just love spending time at the beach, having barbecues and spending more time outdoors. This summer certainly started early, with many devastating bush fires across the country. I saw this picture on Facebook and thought that it really tells the story of a typical Australian summer. 

I started this project with some gel plate printing. I painted the base using a mix of Paper Artsy Paints in Coral and Zesty Zing, with a dash of Tangerine Dina Wakley paint. I stencilled Tracy Scott PS157  with Dylusions Paint Postbox Red. I cut out the petals to create flames.

On my journal page, I painted the base with two colours, Dylusions Slate Grey and Paper Artsy Zesty Zing. I watered these down to create a softer effect. I decorated the page with a couple of stencils and

added wisps of smoke using a Jofy Stamp JOFY80 .

I found an old zip (never throw anything away that you can turn into craft) which represents an opening between safety and danger. I glued the petals randomly to become flames. My blending tool was gelatos. The wording 'Faith Hope Love" was from JOFY 53 set. 

This is a fantastic challenge and I look forward to your creations.

I'm here today to share my Summer inspired Art Journal creation....

To me, this just screams Summer.

All about colour and waves and sunsets.

So let's take a look at how this came together.

I had been hoarding this 'Art by Marlene Ocean Window 12x12 Stencil' .....the shape of those flowers look like waves, and that inner circle just reminds me of the sun.

I chose some of my fave PaperArtsy Paints that are full of summery vibes.

I used 'Slimed', 'Carribean Sea', 'Zesty Zing', 'Peach Nectar' and 'Cerise'.

I also used my larger Dina Wakley Journal.

I began by adding 'Zesty Zing' PaperArtsy paint with a sponge, focusing on the circular area

 (the sun).

I then added some of the 'Cerise' paint and blended it a little.

Keeping the stencil in place, I began adding other paints with a sponge.

I then decided to take the 'Zesty Zing' to the edge of the page.

It seemed a little harsh, so I grabbed the stencil, some 'Snowflake' PaperArtsy Paint and sponged over the top a bit randomly.

Adding that white back in pulled it altogether.

I then grabbed my fudeball pen and swirled it around the circle, adding a few scribbles.

I also went in with the stencil and paint and a sponge and added extra bits to the inner edge of the circle.

I then grabbed some of the Alpha foam stamps by Tim Holtz. 

I added the word sunshine, with black archival ink making sure it was to one side.

I didn't centre it, I rarely do.....it just means it doesn't then have to be perfect, whereas if it's centred I feel the pressure to get it exactly right.

I also like things a bit off centred, a bit unbalanced. A bit like me really.

I then added in my own writing to complete the quote.

I also went over the stamped letters with a white pen, and also added it into the circle too.

That's it!!

I actually forgot to take photos as I went for this one. Whoops!

But basically I decided to select a colour from each of the colour pallettes above - yep mix it up completely!!

NEW YEAR NEW CHALLENGE!! and some exciting news too

 Well here we are, a new year, in fact a new decade!!

I hope you had a lovely Christmas and a lovely New Years Eve too.

We really look forward to inspiring you throughout 2020!!

But first we have a few exciting things to share....

Firstly, both Karen and Jen are staying on as part of the regular Design Team!!!

They have absolutely wowed us with their creations over the past few months, we just HAD to keep them!!

Also, our dear Lynn is coming back onto the Design Team!! Yay!

She's had a break for a few months, and well she just missed this creative space too much so she's joining us again. 

Told you this year would be full of inspiration, it's going to be overflowing!!

To get the inspiration started, let's take a look at this month's challenge.....
