'Let yourself Fall' by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team with my latest inspiration based on this months challenge over in the Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook Group. This time around I have created a bright and fun art journal page using a great quote symbolising letting your walls down and letting yourself love.

These are some of the products used from the Scrap Matrix Store -

Let's take a closer look -

The main feature of the page is the beautiful flying heart stamp by - Art by Marlene, I stamped the heart and hand coloured with watercolours and a posca paint pen.

I have had the Dylusions Silhouette stencils for a while now and I decided to put them to use in the background, the great thing about these stencils are that you can add as little or as much detail as you want. I went with keeping them in the background behind the heart stamp.

In a few parts of the page I added some doodling and zentangling for added interest to the page.

Add some liquid paper or correction pen and/or white posca paint pen to outline and highlight your features on the page.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, make sure you leave some love!

Dream Big Fly High - art journal page by Lynn

Hi everyone, Lynn here to reveal my second project for this months Challenge - Use "fly" in a quote.

I have created another art journal page:

I started this page with a background using Dina Wakley Paints - Turquoise, Lemon, Fuchsia and Sky followed by white paint added by using a brayer.

This sat on my desk for a while cos I love the look of it and didnt know what I wanted to do going forward!   I find created backgrounds so soothing - maybe I will make an art journal full of background pages only!

I decided to add some more colour over top of the white and then traced through a Paper Artsy Stencil the pattern.

Using my Black paint and black posca pen in the smaller spaces I coloured around the stencil pencil marks I had made.

I have then added white doodles and marks all around

I have used ALL and Create stamp #47 to add some bees and the title.  The bees were getting lost in the "busy ness" so I have used a Tim Holtz Splatters stencil and black gesso behind them.

Here are some close ups:

Thats it for me today.  I have linked the products used below.

Dont forget that you can enter this months challenge, simply by adding your photo to our Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook Group and telling us at least one product that you have used that is available at Scrap Matrix Store

Tam flies in with TWO Art Journal pages.....

Hello there creative souls.....

Tam here to share my second bit of creating for our awesome 'FLY' challenge....

I've created TWO Art Journal pages......

The first is......

I used the quote:
"Take these broken wings and learn to FLY"

and yup now you are all singing!!!

I used my black 8x8 Journal and brushed on some white gesso first.

To create the background I used a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop called 'Sweet Posy'.

It looks fabulous every time, I just use sections rather than the whole 12x12 shape.

I recently purchased a soft pink Dylusions paint called 'Rose Quartz'.

I have most of the BRIGHT colours, but sadly, am very lacking in the soft tones.

Time to try something different!!

I also added some Dina Wakley paint in 'Fuschia' and my go to 'black' and 'white'.

I love the grey I achieved by mixing.

To create the feathers, I used a Kinder Kreations Stencil.

I simply used a pencil to trace with the stencil directly onto the page.

I turned the stencil over to ensure the feathers were going in different directions.

This gives a more natural 'floaty' feel.

I then painted over them with the above paints.

I really just 'winged it' until I was happy.

I added dots, and once dry a few simple pen marks using my Fudeball pen.

I added a few flicks of the paint as well.

I then hand drew some little birds.....I wanted them to  look like they were coming off the feathers.

I added my quote in and done!!!

Time to share my second creation......

For this one I cracked open my Dina Wakley 8x10 Journal!
EEEEEEEKKK!!

This one began as I had a leftover scribbled flower from the last page I created.....

I couldn't waste it so.......

I firstly created a face using Scribble Sticks.....

I added water to the scribbles to allow the colour to drip down the page.

You'll notice I only created half a face.....

I can never seem to match up the eyes, so I cheated and added my quote to that section.

I used Ideaology alpha foam stamps by Tim Holtz and just added my own handwriting.

I then stamped a few of the Paper Artsy Tracy Scott  'Scribble flowers' above the face, in both the small and large size.

I added some Dina Wakley paint in 'Turquoise', 'Lemon' and 'Blushing'.

I love these pastel hues together.

This is the same technique I used last time, so you can see step by steps of that HERE.

I added the leftover flower from my last page over the top of some of the flowers and love that it sits up off the page a little.

So that's it from me today.....

I hope it's inspired you to have a go at our 'FLY' Challenge.

Just head to our Facebook Shares Group and upload your creation!

Let us know which Scrap Matrix Products you've used.

I can't wait to see them!

Colourful hugs,
xxx

'Let Me Fly' By Elisa Ablett

Hi Scrap Matrix Fans,

My turn up on the blog today with my first inspiration for the month of April.

I wanted to create a fairy garden for the photo of my 'great' niece who is often the subject of my scrapbooking pages. I  wanted use all different types of materials including acetate and alcohol inks plus those AWESOME Art by Marlene Stamps which are becoming my firm fav. Distress Oxides ink pads made their way in to create the background, love that they can either be as bright or more mellow depending on your technique !

The April Challenge over on the Scrap Matrix Shares facebook page is to -

Such a great challenge, there are so many great quotes out there,
so get your thinking caps on and enter in our challenge this month.

Here is a round up of the major products used in the layout
and can be found at Scrap Matrix -

13 Arts Art Journey Word Stickers

Let's take a closer look at the layout!

To create the flowers, I dabbed alcohol inks over an acetate sheet, then sprinkle Alcohol Ink blending solution to create some lovely patterns and blending. I then waited for it to dry then stamped the flowers, stems and leaves in Staz On Jet Black ink. Then fussy cut once dry.

To create the background I used Distress Oxide Inkpads and a smooshing technique on a craft mat along with spritz's of water. Then drag your paper through the liquid and dry between each layer. I also smoothed Distress Oxide Inks over Paper Artsy Stencils using a blending tool, just to give the background some depth.

Add some stamping using an Aall and Create Stamp #47  and your quote.

I used an old 13 Arts sticker sheet (the wings) to add underneath my fussy cut photo which i mounted on 3D foam tape.

And your finished!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today,

Hugs xx
