Summer layout -.... by Lynn Good

Morning everyone, today I am back with the second layout that I have created for this months moodboard challenge.

Here is my layout- I have gone with the greens and pinks for this page together with an array of summer photos of our pup "Rosie"

I began by cutting up the 6 x 6 La-La Lands Paper - Endless Summer and adhering to a 12x12 cardstock with matte medium. I then added a layer of gesso to push the paper to the background,

I have then used Paper Artsy Grunge Paste, Paper Artsy Infusion Green Man and Paper Artsy Stencil PS097 at the top and bottom of the page.

Once this was dry I have highlighted the paper strips with gelatos and words from Mambi sticks Stickers.

Final touches with liquid pearls around the layout,

Here are some close ups:

I hope that this has inspired you to find some time to create and enter into this months challenge.  It is super easy - create a project and upload a picture to our Scrap Matrix Shares page, easy peasy.  Dont forget to let us know what products you have used that is available from the Scrap Matrix Shop.

Until next time = Happy Crafting

Shimmery Journal Pages

Hi Everone!
Once again I'm back with a project for you to have a look at.
I've had some difficulty trying to decide what I was going to do for my final project.

I always have trouble finding my creative muse this time of the year. I'm not sure if it's the stress that this time of the year brings or if it's the heat, but I have managed to do a couple of pages for you in my large Dylusions Journal
I've grabbed my favourite mediums and just 'played' with them. This is the result. I hope you like them.

The first page is a nice and light page. I had a particular poem in mind for it, but it had too many lines, so I went with a simple quote.

For this page I used:

Gesso
Paperartsy Paints - Tinned Peas, Zucchini, Haystack, Gold, White Fire
Faber-Catell Gelatos - Satellite, Metallic Blueberry, Iced Pear, Metallic Mint,
Gold Champagne, Ice Chai, Iced Rose, Iced Currant
Carabelle Studios stamp - Leafs
Paperartsy Stamp - ETS28
TCW Stencils - TCW775s , TCW461s, TCW261s
Ink - Black, Blue, Green, Brown
Wet Wipes / Baby Wipes
Faber-Castelle Pitt Pen - Warm Grey

I removed a double page from my journal. I covered half of it with random blotches of Tinned Peas, Zucchini and Haystack.
Once dry I covered them with Gold and White Fire to create my shimmer.
I then stamped my leaves onto the paper and cut them out.

I gessoed my page and scribbled my chosen gelatos over the page.  Using a baby wipe to moisten my fingers, I smoothed the colours out and over my page.
I then placed the mandala stencils over the page and using a baby wipe removed the colour. This medium is not fixed and will smudge when gluing or brushing anything onto the page. To fix it, I use a brayer with gloss gel.
There are also spray-on mediums but I've never used those, and sometimes it's about working with what you have!

My next step was to grab the 'Art is' text stencil and my green , blue and brown Ink Blending Tools (IBT's).  I used the residual leftover colour on the IBT's to create the words on the page.

I stamped the bunch of leaves stamp onto the top left corner twice then adhered the leaves to the page with gel medium.  On the leftover paper I used the gelatos Iced Currant and Iced Rose and stamped one of  Tracey Scott's butterflies.  I cut it out and placed it along with the quote on the page.

My second page was done in a similar way but I've used black gesso instead. The stamps and stencil was sponged with paperartsy Gold paint and the quote is from 7 Dots Studio.

I've used:
Paperarsty Stencil - PS156
Paperartsy Paint - Gold
Carabelle Studios stamps - Scribbled Leafs and Textured Circles

Well there you go.  That's it from me.
I hope you all have a safe and merry Christmas.
I hope to see you in the new year.

I'm off to find my missing mojo...  It's go to be around here somewhere...

Living life .. with Alz

Morning peeps!

I'm here to share another "You've been framed" layout with you ..

Living life

I had a ton of fun creating the background for this layout. It was a bit of an experiment with a new product (new for me that is) for adding colour and I wasn't at all sure how the colours would turn out. With a bit of blind faith, and a lot of Prima Metallic Accents Semi Watercolour Paints I made this ..

(I used a sheet of 12x12 heavy weight watercolour paper)

I love the way the colour has seeped into the watercolour paper whilst the mica powder has stayed on top, giving a kind of blended but opaque finish at the same time. Super cool!

Whilst this was drying, I played with the idea of leaving the background as it was to show off the beautiful colour, shimmer and shine, or to add more layers. In the end, more is always more, lol, so I grabbed some stencils (many stencils!) and my Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Tumbled Glass, Pumice Stone, Tea Dye and Broken China) and using (mostly) like colour on colour, went to town.

So I'm digging this, but it needed more because, well, more is always more! It needed texture. Something organic and beach-y. Because this was my photo ..

(I love, love, love the new Tim Holtz Mixed Media Mat!)

The Finnabair Texture Paste in White Sand with the Joggles 9x12 Wander stencil would be perfect, or so I thought.

But, once dry, now you see it ..
and now you don't ..
.. which was a bit of a nuisance cos I wasn't going for 'subtle' lol!
(Oh and this depended on the angle from which you were looking at the background.)

What to do la? It'd been a while since I played with my Faber Castell Gelatos so figured 'why not?'. Using Gold Champagne and Silver Ice from the Metallics pack, I placed the Joggles stencil back over the White Sand Texture Paste and smeared the Gelatos on top of the texture paste with my finger and once dry ..

now you see it ..
and now you don't now you still see it ..
magic! (lol)

That was my background done and dusted.

I knew I wanted to use polaroid style frames and chipboard circles to create a layer of frames behind my photo. Because I couldn't cut in a straight line if my life depended on it, I decided to die cut some frames using both 13@rts Colour Basics patterned paper from the 6x6 pad and Tim Holtz Idea-ology tissue paper which I adhered to white cardstock to give it some substance. Although the tissue paper I used is currently not in store, you could just as easily use the Botanical Collage Paper.

For my chipboard circles I used Blue Fern Studios Graduated Circles, the largest of which measures 11" across. The smallest, which I've used on this layout, measures 3" across. In all, you receive five funky circles in the one pack. Oh and I also used the 6" circle on my layout.

(cool huh?!)

I inked both circles with the Pumice Stone Distress Ink, coated them with Ranger Glossy Accents and, whilst wet, sprinkled on some Prima Art Sugar Glitter in Antique Silver. I stapled my paper frames to my background, glued down my chipboard circles, added White French Lace Embossed Paper Lace, and that was my layers done.

ps: if you check out my yellow polaroid frame you can see
that I can't even die-cut in a straight line lol!!

As you probably know by now, I love using flowers on my layouts. This one would be no different and, luckily for me, Petaloo had the perfect flowers for my page .. Ivory Burlap Blossoms and Ivory Mini Paintables. I tucked a teal bloom Um Wow Flair in with a couple of my flowers and added my title "living life" using individual words from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Chit Chat Stickers on top. I printed my journaling using a free font 1942 report and I was done. Here's a few close ups of my finished page ..

Oh and by the way I forgot to add that when it was all stuck down and finished, or so I thought, I decided to flick around a small amount of Turquoise 13@rts Splash Glitter Ink!

Have you thought of playing along with our "You've been framed" challenge this month? You have until midnight on the 30th to upload a pic of your project to the Scrap Matrix Facebook Shares Page. Oh and heh don't forget to let us know which products available from Scrap Matrix you've used.

Lynn's second project for this months challenge

Hi everyone, Lynn back again to share my second project for this months Challenge - "The Point is".

I have created an art journal page:

and here is the moodboard -

I have taken inspiration from the bottom right colourful triangles and the star.

I began by cutting up scrap paper into triangles and gluing them to my pages.

I filled in any gaps with a selection of washi tapes.  I have then cut out some triangles from scrap cardboard to use as a template and coloured all the areas around them using Gelatoes.  The white arrows were created using the Dylusion Arrow Stencil and Dina Wakely Paint in white.  The black circles have been created using a lid and black ink

The small triangles are an AALL and Create Stencil # 20 and black gesso.
Final touches included stamping the words using the Visible Image Stamp - Own It, and the title using a Faber Castell Pitt Pen and white sharpie for doodling.

Here are some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get a chance to create a project - scrapbooking layout, art journal page, tags, a card or tw, using the moodboard for this months challenge.  All you need to do is put a photo of your project into the relevant album on the scrap matrix shares facebook page detailing at least one product that you have used that is available at the Scrap Matrix Store.

Helen's First Monochromatic Tic Tac Toe Project.

Welcome back to my blog, where today I'm sharing a project for
Scrap Matrix.

The challenge is to create a project using a tic tac toe monochromatic theme.
For those of you who have not come across this before, the idea is to use any three objects from the grid, but they must be in a straight line horizontally, vertically or even diagonally. You may use any monochromatic colours you like.

Here is the chart

I've elected to use red as my colour and my three items are
Paint, Chipboard and buttons, flairs or brads.

I've watched a few mixed media you tube videos recently and came across a site recommended by my friend Margaret Mifsud, when she made some ATC's.  I was inspired to create a background with book pages, texture paste, embossing, stamping and inks.

I wanted to feature this Blue Fern chipboard, which
comes in a square. I decided to feature the numbers
so I popped some of the squares out of the chipboard.

Then I cut the chipboard into sections and painted it with Dylusions Black paint.

Next, I heat embossed random patches of the chipboard with

To create the background of the page, I tore up some old book pages into random strips and adhered them onto a white background with Art Basic Gel

I added some plasterers tape, some Washi tape and some

Another layer was added with  Tim Holtz texture paste, through various stencils and
then heat embossed with Stampendous white embossing powder.

The next layers were made with various stamps, Distress Oxides and Red Gelatos.

I added some stars and brads.

A closer look.

Some of the texture details.

Thanks for your visit today.
I hope you've found something to inspire you and will be tempted
to play along at the Scrap Matrix Tic Tac Toe challenge.
