Shimmery Journal Pages

Hi Everone!  

Once again I'm back with a project for you to have a look at.  

I've had some difficulty trying to decide what I was going to do for my final project.

 I always have trouble finding my creative muse this time of the year. I'm not sure if it's the stress that this time of the year brings or if it's the heat, but I have managed to do a couple of pages for you in my large Dylusions Journal. 
I've grabbed my favourite mediums and just 'played' with them. This is the result. I hope you like them. 

The first page is a nice and light page. I had a particular poem in mind for it, but it had too many lines, so I went with a simple quote.

For this page I used:

I removed a double page from my journal. I covered half of it with random blotches of Tinned Peas, Zucchini and Haystack.
Once dry I covered them with Gold and White Fire to create my shimmer. 

I then stamped my leaves onto the paper and cut them out.

I gessoed my page and scribbled my chosen gelatos over the page.  Using a baby wipe to moisten my fingers, I smoothed the colours out and over my page.
I then placed the mandala stencils over the page and using a baby wipe removed the colour. This medium is not fixed and will smudge when gluing or brushing anything onto the page. To fix it, I use a brayer with gloss gel.
There are also spray-on mediums but I've never used those, and sometimes it's about working with what you have!

My next step was to grab the 'Art is' text stencil and my green , blue and brown Ink Blending Tools (IBT's).  I used the residual leftover colour on the IBT's to create the words on the page.

I stamped the bunch of leaves stamp onto the top left corner twice then adhered the leaves to the page with gel medium.  On the leftover paper I used the gelatos Iced Currant and Iced Rose and stamped one of  Tracey Scott's butterflies.  I cut it out and placed it along with the quote on the page.

My second page was done in a similar way but I've used black gesso instead. The stamps and stencil was sponged with paperartsy Gold paint and the quote is from 7 Dots Studio.

'Bling it On' with Tam

Happy December creative souls.

My turn to share my first creation for our current 'Bling it On' Challenge....

such a great challenge for the month of December, when bling, lights and shiny beautiful things really make an appearance.

I created this one using lots of metallic paint colours - and they look gorgeous on the black.

Really difficult to capture the sheen and metallic finish in photos, but it looks quite dramatic and classy in real life!

Copper heaven!

So let's see how this one came about.....

I selected this stencil by TCW - 6x6 - Deco Leaves I just love it for my background for the layout. 

I grabbed some PaperArtsy 'Copper' to go with. You must try this colour, it's simply stunning.

I used a sponge to stamp through the stencil onto the background....

I then grabbed some more black cardstock and chose a flower stencil - TCW 12x12 Flower Frenzy

 I also grabbed all my metallic paints.

I selected a few different flowers and again sponged through.

I used 'Rosy' in the centre, then sponged 'Copper' and 'Gold'

When I lifted the stencil, I gasped - they look beautiful and I love the ombre effect of the three different paint colours.

I repeated this process with a few flowers.

I then fussy cut them all out.

Ok, now it's time to work on some of the details.

I grabbed a couple of 7Dots tags  and I cut out a couple of tags from scraps.

These will form the base for my photos.

I then rubbed some of the 'Rosy' Paint over some German Scrap 'Renaissance' Petite Black Strips.

These will be placed randomly onto the layout.

For my title, I used these gorgeous German Scrap Angel Wings Black. 

They were black, but after a few swipes with all the paint colours, they completely transformed and look just like metal!

I added a 7Dots quote - this page is about my girl finishing off her final year of High School and all the steps that are to come. This quote suited, and paired with the wings perfectly.

I then found this blingy thread, and cut it down and used pieces of it for the centers of my painted flowers.

I also used these gorgeous little metal butterflies. They just suit the theme of my layout.

I added some swipes of  paint to them and placed them so they flew up the layout.

I added a few flowers through the layout.

I found some copper ones and then I grabbed some small white ones and added some micro-beads in Copper using Matte Gel.

Ok time to assemble it altogether.

I really enjoyed creating a blingy layout using metallic paints.

Give some a try paired with black - it's really quite fancy!

Our final challenge for 2019!!!!

Hi everyone

Well apparently it is December 1st!!!! WHAT?!?

So that means this is our last challenge for 2019!

Thankyou to all who joined in this year.

A special thanks and hug to everyone who played along, but all of you who follow along, leave comments, participate, be inspired....you make this special place what it is and we are grateful for each and every one of you.

We are super proud of this space.

It's friendly, kind, safe and full of inspiration from not only the Design Team but also some super talented crafty lovelies. It's just lovely to have a place where others 'get it'. Where we can be ourselves and share our art, and know it will be met with 'ooohs' and 'aaah's and not 'huhs' and 'but whys'.

So this challenge is gonna suit all of you.

From those of you who just LOVE CHRISTMAS and NEW YEAR festivities.....to those that don't but just love a splattering of shiny....

We all love bling.....some a little.....some a lot!

So create with bling....

it could be sparkles, metallics, shimmers, metals, paints, crystals....

endless inspiration.
