Jen's Creatures.

 Hi Everyone!

I'm sharing a couple of journal pages for you to enjoy today. A couple of creatures.

(Thanks to all the artists who have shared their work and inspire us.)

I'm sure you thought that I would create a cat... well, one of them is feline but we'll get to him later.
A few of you will know that my surname is Giarraffa, and it's often pronounced jer-raa-fa, (it should be gia-raff-a).  Needless to say that the tall long-necked creature is often associated with the name. As it happens, Triple M radio currently has featured a giraffe in their TV ads.  He's rocking out to a Foreigner song and I immediately think of my youngest brother-in-law whenever I see it.  Inspired by this I created 'Gio' my singing giraffe.

He's a little wonky in places, (aren't we all), but I'm very happy with him.  Let me show you how I created him.

I started by gessoing a page in my large Dylusions Journal.
First I glued bits of book paper, collage paper and washi tape to the page.  I wasn't sure at this stage where I was going with this.  I printed an image from Pinterest and copied a rough outline of my subject.

I created the background using Paperartsy Fresco Acrylic Paints in Vanilla, Butter and Haystack by sponging them randomly over the page.  Next I grabbed Paperartsy PA Stencil 155 and sponged Cerise over my page, then using Mulled Wine and a whire Posca pen I added some accents.

For my giraffe I used Spring, Beanstalk and Gumboots. The eyes were done with a mixture of Pitt and Posca pens.  I don't own any brown paint.  I'll have to fix that soon.

Next to make the markings on his hide, I sponged two blues onto some spare card.  (I forgot to take a photo of these for my records so I can't really say which ones I used.)

I stamped the diamond from Papreartsy ETS44 stamp set and added some detail with my pencils and glued them onto my giraffe.

My next step was to add some more leaves, because giraffes need something to eat.  I sponged Cerise over some more card and stamped Papersartsy Stamp Set JOFY71 and added highlights with Mulled Wine and white Posca pen. I then placed them on my page. I added the musical notes with a black Posca pen.

And he's done!

While I was planning this page and waiting for the paint to dry another animal appeared on the opposite page. I actually got distracted by him because I was having so much fun.

He's my Sun Lion... mainly because of the bright, sunny colours of his mane.
The background was done by sponging Paperarsty paint over the page and adding some stencilled designs to it.
I'm pretty sure his face is done with Zesty Zing and Tangerine Twist paint and details again with Posca and Pitt pens. Then starting with the darkest colour (Cherry Red?) I painted some lines.  I think I used Coral next once the darkest was dry and then Tango, Tangerine Twist and Zesty Zing until I was happy. I think I was smiling the entire time. It may have been drizzling outside and he just perked me right up.

Well that's it.  My two character creatures.  I've no idea what I'll do next. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Paper Artsy Tags
with Lisa Amiet

Hello!
It's Lisa here on the blog today to share all things
Paper Artsy with you.

I have created a set of tags.

I wanted to feature some of the gorgeous 'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paints',
and with this gorgeous 'Pumpkin Spice' colour, my daughter's favourite and requested colour.

I have given my tags a nice coat of the paint,
I have then inked the edges using my
'Distress Oxide in Vintage Photo'.

I have then used the '7 Dots Studio Garden Party Chevron Stencil'
and the same ink to stencil randomly, vertically, on my tags.
I have then used the '7 Dots Studio Pixelated Snowflake Stencil',
and modelling paste to stencil through randomly.

Next, I have used pieces of torn 'Dina Wakley Media Collage Background Papers',
along with some stamping using my 'Paper Artsy ESA08 Stamp Set'.

Next, I have used some scrunched and inked pieces of a doily, along with some pieces from the papers in the '7 Dots Studio 6 x 6 AirMail Paper Pad', layering as I go.

I have then added some of the '7 Dots Studio AirMail Die Cut Elements'
layering with some stamped images and some metal embellishments.

I have then used some of the 'Prima Epiphany Flowers',
some gauze and some of the 'Jute Trim'.

Some more pics :)

To finish I have added some of the '13Arts Journey Stickers'

I hope you like what I have created.

Until next time!

Lisa

Paper Artsy Month - Art Journal Page with Lynn

Hi everyone, I am up on the blog to share my second page for this awesome month - Paper Artsy month.

I have used Jo Firth Young Stamps - I am so in love with these at the moment - the quirky flowers are really speaking to me

Here is my art journal page

This page started off as a "mop it up" page.  This is where I had brushed off excess paint onto a blank page.

I decided that it looked like the wind going in a direction and would incorporate that in the placement of my "Flowers".
I had gaps to fill in the background and used Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paints in Bubble Gum, Cherry Red and Zesty Zing  colours.  I have then stamped out the images from JOFY74 as the head of the flower and the stem from JOFY75.

I then got very excited and forgot to take photos!!!!  So I will have to tell you instead!

I have coloured the flowers using Dylusion Paint Pens, as well as a Posca Paint Pen for the White areas and highlighted some of the black areas using a  Tombow Twin Tip Marker Pen

I have also made some marks around the outside of the page to give it a border.

I have taken some close ups which I will detail the extras that I have done (note is now on my desk - "TAKE MORE PROGRESS PHOTOS"!

I have used the White Posca Paint pen to add some white highlights to the flowers and scribbles around the edge if the page

I have added some detail back into the leaves with a black pen.

I have stamped a saying from the stamp set EKC28 by Kay Carley

Well - thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have found some inspiration from my page to create an art journal page, layout or project using a Paper Artsy product and put a photo into our Scrap Matrix Shares Page to be in the draw to win a gift voucher - it is that easy :)

Jen's Paperartsy Goddess

Paperartsy Month!  Woohoo!  I love these products.

I’m so happy to be able to show you my creations this month.

First I wish to share an art journal page that has been growing like a tiny seedling, in the part of my mind that dreams of creating, for a while now.  It has changed from the initial creative spark, taken a few side trips, back steps and thrown me into a fit of frustration from time to time, to the piece that I share with you today.
  I hope you like it.

I’ve used my large Dylusions Creative Journal and sketched out what I hoped to achieve.

I then painted the sky/top part in Blueberry and the hair was a combination of Sargasso and South Pacific.

I painted her face with Nougat and tried shading a little with Mushroom.  I then sponged Gold Rush over the Tracy Scott Stencil PS124.

I then added details with my pencils.

Next I removed a page from my journal and sponged Lilac, Electric Violet and Byzantium onto it.  I sponged Gold Rush onto a couple of stamps from Tracy Scott’s Stamp Set ETS34 and stamped them onto the paint.
I also stamped Jo Firth Young’s flowers from Stamp Set JOFY82 with Archival Ink – Majestic Violet.  I cut these out, as shown, and attached them with 3D foam with some embroidery thread that I had braided.

On the rest of the removed page I sponged Lilac, Antarctic and Hint of Mint.
I stamped the small flower from Jo’s Stamp SetJOFY76 with Archival Ink – Viridian randomly over it.
Cut them out and glued them all over my pages.

I added some dots of Gold Rush for more detail and added another braid.

Well there she is, my Paperartsy Goddess.

I've mainly used all Paperartsy products.  You can find them at Scrap Matrix

I'm sorry I'm not very good at photography.  You can't see all of the details on her face but they are there and it looks good to me.  I've never tried a face this large before.
I have to thank all of you, and especially the rest of the Design Time, (and Vicki for giving me this opportunity), for pushing me and giving me the confidence to try something like this.  If I can do it , so can you.  Everyone is great at giving advice and direction, so I want to see you try something you've been dreaming of doing.
Don't forget to share it on the Scrap Matrix Shares facebook page.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my page.

Bye for now.

Mark Making
with Lisa Amiet

Hello all!
It's Lisa here on the blog today,
to share an art journal page,
inspired by this month's challenge

This is what I have come up with

So I have first started by adding some colour to my page.
I have used the 'Dina Walkey Acrylics in Lemon, Blush, Turquoise & Eggplant'.
I have also used some 'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paints in Granny Smith'
I have smeared them thinly across my page.
I have scratched in some patterns to the wet paint.

I have then used the '7 Dots Studio Droplets Stencil'
and 'Ranger Archival Ink in Black' to stencil droplets onto my page.

I have then used an assortment of stamps to stamp out some florals and foliage,
such as the 'Carabelle Studio Scribbled Leafs and Textured Circles',
to build the flowers and foliage.
I have added more on my background with the 'Paper Artsy ETS02' stamps, and the
'7 Dots Studio Northern Night Stamps'

Next, I have started some doodling. I have added some grass to the bottom of my page.

I have added some more doodling to the sides.

This is not what I was aiming for,
a few things didn't work for me on the day, but
I learned a few new things.

I hope you have fun with this challenge, and make your mark on it.

Until next time!!

Lisa
