I would like to paint the way a bird sings.

Hi Everyone!

It’s my turn to share my project for the Either/Or challenge.

I’ve chosen to do a page, brights, circles and nice.

Now bright is a bit of a kryptonite for me, but I’m improving.  So here goes…

First I stuck down some torn serviette into my Dylusions journal. I’ve had these for a while, (I think I got then from Kmart).

Then I sponged DinaWakley paints over the page. I’ve used Lime, Lemon, Ruby, Magenta, Peacock, Tangerine, Evergreen, Blackberry, Lapis and White.

My next step was to sponge more paint through various stencils, (7 Dots Studio and TCW).

Then I drew some circles and blocked out the rest of the page with Apricot. (I regret this; I should have used a different colour. Oh well.)

I did a second coat.  (I still didn't like it.)

I wanted to create a shadow around the circles so I used my Hickory Smoke Distress crayon and blended it with my finger.

I then outlined the circles with a black pen. Adding scribbles and trying my hardest to be messy.  (This is hard for me.) It took a couple more circles before the perfectionist side of my personality would let it go.  (I’m a Gemini; one half chaotic, the other controlling.)

I stamped my leaves around the edges of some of the circles and the two birds in the larger circles in Jet Black Archival Ink. (Paperartsy Stamp Set ESN34).  Some didn’t stamp well and I coloured them in with a black pen.

I added the quote in pen and that’s it. I hope you like it.  I’ll be back later in the month with more to share. I’ll see you then.  Now it’s time to work on my Christmas gifts.

Bye for now.

Jen.

Colourful Characters
with Lisa Amiet

Hello Scrap Matrix fans!

This month for our challenge we have something different for you

I have created a couple of tags with what my son calls zombie doll characters,
one boy and one girl :)

To start with I have painted my tags with my 'Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paints' in
'Magenta' and 'Ocean'
I have then used some 'Lemon' to stencil through my 'Grungy Grid stencil'.

I have used the 'Zinksi Art Set 02' to stamp the characters onto white cardstock.
I have then used my 'Art Philosophy Oil Pastels' to roughly colour them in,
I wanted them to look like a child's drawing.

I have added some smears of pastels to the tag bases too!
Add in some more stamping to the tags with the 'Paper Artsy ETS02' stamps.

Lastly, I have used some of the 'Dina Wakley Collage Words' for my quote.

I have used the same methods to decorate the boy tag with boy colours :)

Isn't he ever so cute??

I hope that you like what I have created,
and that they inspire you to create some cute quirky characters of your own!

Until next time!

Lisa

Mark Making
with Lisa Amiet

Hello all!
It's Lisa here on the blog today,
to share an art journal page,
inspired by this month's challenge

This is what I have come up with

So I have first started by adding some colour to my page.
I have used the 'Dina Walkey Acrylics in Lemon, Blush, Turquoise & Eggplant'.
I have also used some 'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paints in Granny Smith'
I have smeared them thinly across my page.
I have scratched in some patterns to the wet paint.

I have then used the '7 Dots Studio Droplets Stencil'
and 'Ranger Archival Ink in Black' to stencil droplets onto my page.

I have then used an assortment of stamps to stamp out some florals and foliage,
such as the 'Carabelle Studio Scribbled Leafs and Textured Circles',
to build the flowers and foliage.
I have added more on my background with the 'Paper Artsy ETS02' stamps, and the
'7 Dots Studio Northern Night Stamps'

Next, I have started some doodling. I have added some grass to the bottom of my page.

I have added some more doodling to the sides.

This is not what I was aiming for,
a few things didn't work for me on the day, but
I learned a few new things.

I hope you have fun with this challenge, and make your mark on it.

Until next time!!

Lisa

Summer Lovin
with Lisa Amiet

Hello Scrap Matrix Fans!
It's Lisa here today to share some Summer Lovin'
for this month's challenge!

Well, I don't know about you but I have some definite colours in mind when I think of summer.
These are the colours that I have used in my latest art journal page.

I have created this page in my
'Dylusions Creative Journal - Large'
I have started with a coat of 'Liquitex Gesso', to seal my page.
I have then used some 'Finnabair Light Paste', to
randomly smear over my page with a palette knife.

Once dried I have applied some rough strokes of
'Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paint', in 'Lemon'

Next I have used my '7 Dots Studio Paintchips Hatched Stencil',
and applied 'Distress Ink' in 'Peacock Feathers',
with a 'Blending Tool'

My next step was to add some more colour.
I had the intention of covering a lot of this so I have left it very rough.
I have used more of my 'Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paints' in
'Eggplant' and 'Blushing' and some
'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paint' in 'Granny Smith'.

I have also added some torn pieces of 'Collage Paper #3',
from Art by Marlene.
My next step was to cut the arched windows,
from the black printed collage paper in the
'Dina Wakley Media Collage Papers Background'
and adhered them to my page.

I wanted to soften the edges of the cut windows,
so I have used my Gesso and the paints used earlier,
along with the best tools I have,
my trusty fingers, to smear more paint on my page.

I have then used my 'Carabelle Studio Scribbles Leaves & Textured Circles' stamps,
to stamp the leaf stems, with 'Archival Ink' in black.
I have then also splashed around some
'Dylusions Black Marble' Ink.

Some close ups of the yummy colours and textures.

I have used a couple of the quotes, cut from the
'Dina Wakley Media Collage Papers Background'.

I am in love with these quotes,
they seem to speak to me.

This one is my favourite.

I hope that you like what I have created and it has given you some summer inspiration
to enter this month's challenge.

Until next time!

Lisa

Building Bloom
with Lisa Amiet

Hello Scrap Matrix fans!
It's Lisa here today to share some inspiration with you for our
November Challenge

I have created an art journal spread with this theme in mind.

I have started with my 'Dylusions Creative Journal Large', and I am using a double page today.
I have started by painting some areas of 'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish - Granny Smith'.
This was followed by a coat of 'Liquitex White Gesso'.

While the Gesso was still still wet,
I have added some 'Dina Wakely Media Acrylic Paint - Lemon'.
I have used my finger to spread the lemon into the gesso.

Next, I have used a sponge applied some 'Dina Wakely Media Acrylic Paint - Blushing',
through my 'Finnabair Grungy Grid Stencil', in random areas on my page.

More colour is what I needed now,
so I have added some 'Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paint - Eggplant',
again using my finger to smear into the still damp gesso, using up and down motions.

'Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paint - Turquoise',
was the colour that I added to my page next,
again using the same method.

For my next layer I have used some 'Dina Wakley Media Black Gesso',
I have also added in some 'Finnabair Modelling Paste',
that I have smeared and mixed with my finger,
still using the up and down motion.

To start to build my blooms I have used some white cardstock and
I have painted patterns and random shapes using the following paints,
'Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paints in Lemon, Blushing, Eggplant & Turquoise',
along with some
'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish - Granny Smith' and 'Liquitex White Gesso'

I have then used the fabulous 'Carabelle 'Scribbled Leafs & Textured Circles' Stamp Set,
to randomly stamp out leaves and circles all over this cardstock.
I have then fussy cut them all out, ready to assemble my blooms.

I love the different 'leaves', that I have used as petals, to build my blooms.
There are a number of different designs, that you can mix and match and layer,
in soooo many different combinations.

I have built these by adhering the leaves to the back of the circles, overlapping as I go,
all the way around. I then continue with another layer, until I am happy with the bloom.

I have then cut two of these in half,
to use on the edges of my pages.
The other blooms I have arranged over my page,
I have also adhered a few of the leftover petals to my page.

I have then used my 'Dina Wakley Media Collage Word Pack',
to find a quote I like. I have cut them to size and adhered them to my page.
I love that the colour still shows through them as they are on tissue paper.

To finish I have used a black marker
to randomly doodle and outline on my page.

Some more close ups of those beautiful colours and blooms!

I love that 'Eggplant' colour, I think it's my new favourite colour!

I had a lot of fun building the layers of this page,
a bit of finger painting to calm the senses :)

I hope that you like what I have created,
and that it inspires you to create some blooms of your own!
I can't wait to see all the gorgeous entires!

Until next time

Lisa
