ATC Cards by Tanya Froud

Hi Guys! Tanya Here with another of my creations for the month,

With the drip spritz and spray theme going on this month its got me re-discovering some old favorites that got put on the shelf and forgotten about. Oxide Sprays! I forgot how much fun they are.

For my ATC cards i started with a base of 8x10 inch heavy white card stock.

I spritzed Pickled Raspberry, Fossilized Amber and Pumpkin Oxide Sprays onto my craft mat, one at a time them smooshed the card into it to build color. I dried it ever and then to get more depth in the color, before giving it a really good dry.

I then grabbed a couple of Tracy Scott Mandala stencils and a makeup sponge and sprayed a little puddle and dipped my sponge into the ink and then sponged it through the stencil repeating the color until I was happy with what I saw.

I then cut the cards down to the ATC size, 2.5x3.5 inch and used Dark Room Door "Artist Palette" Stamps to add my final layer to the cards.

Here is another dip in and smoosh page using the Glossy Ink Sprays from a discarded piece from my book mark. I also used the same mandala stencil.

Well That's it from me, until next time!

Home....By Tanya

Hi Guys Tanya Here!

How good is everyone's projects this month! And how talented are these artist found on pinterest!

All this talk of home has got me all nostalgic... who has gone back to there childhood home after years of not seeing it and it no longer being in the family?
I spotted my childhood home on Domain for sale recently and knew i needed to go "home" and walk through. I took hubby with me and spent time reminiscing... There are so many happy memories, tinged with sadness as the grand old lady had fallen into a state of disrepair. It is an old home built in the late 1800's. Though time hasn't been kind, nothing can shake that feeling of being back home.
I kept the color pallet paired right back, drawing inspiration from the old faded green paint on the house (I remember dad painting it, "Granny Smith Apple Green", as a child I thought it odd that a paint would be named after a fruit!)
I used Paper Artsy paints in these tones...The primary color I used was Green Patina

I grabbed a magazine and did a rough image transfer of some print, like I have shown in previous tutorials.
Next using a pallet knife I dragged paint up and down in a band across white heavy weight cardstock. and then using a Paper Artsy stencil sponged white gesso through very roughly. ( At this point it reminded me of old peeling wallpaper where the newspaper underneath is revealed)

I then added some stamping onto deli paper and used it to create some more layers sticking it down with gel medium and adding my photos that I had matted onto black card stock.
I finished with writing the verse from a song on a strip of black card.

For my last project I did a quick tag...
I simply sponged on white Gesso through a Paper Artsy stencil , and then repeated with Paper Artsy paints.

I added some painty drips with Dina Wakley Gloss sprays.
I then Stamped a art By Marlene girl on white cardstock, Fussy cut her out the colored with a lead pencil and blended it with a paper stump.

Well that is it from me... I think i have rambled on long enough about non art related stuff!

Until next time!!

Teal and Purple challenge, a trio of cards from Helen

Welcome back to the Scrap Matrix challenge this month
where we have a gorgeous mood board to inspire you.

The challenge is open to scrap layouts, cards, art journalling, OTP, anything you like really, as long as you use these colours and at least one product from the Scrap Matrix shop.
Easy Peasy!

I decided to make a few cards using lots of mixed media.  I love getting messy and not knowing if my plan will work or not.
It's fun to just play.

I began with a 6" x 6" piece of heavy white card stock.
It's a bit hard to see here, but using a small sponge,
randomly applied some Finnabair heavy white gesso through two different stencils. Then I dried it thoroughly with a heat tool.

The larger flower texture is from TCW Tuscan Floral stencil, not currently in stock, but this one, Paper Artsy PS005 would work just as well.

The smaller bits were made with one of my favourite stencils, Carabelle for the love of layers.  It's so versatile.
It's not in stock right now, but I'm sure it can be ordered.

Using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks, I mixed various colours on my craft mat before smooshing on with a Tim Holtz mini circle tool.

I used Peacock Feathers, Broken China, & Salty Ocean for the Teal & Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet & Seedless Preserves for the purple.

For added intensity, I also dabbed on some Paper Artsy Acrylic paints, Lavender and Caribbean Sea.

I'm showing a couple of different cards throughout.  This one demonstrates the next layer which is to add some darker ink through a different stencil, Tim Holtz Dot Fade.
This Honeycomb one would work well too.

The floral stencil is from Tim Holtz THS705

Another layer, this time some stamping with Black archival ink and a bit of gold pen work.

The stamp is from Carabelle, Bulles d'eau.
Paper Artsy has a similar one.

The small images in this one, Ginko would work beautifully too.

A close up showing some white pen work, a title and some bling from my stash.

The dark stencil work is made with Tim Holtz THSO70.
There are lots of Tim's stencils in the store.

The stamp on this card is made by using just the middle of a Paper Artsy Stamp, ETS16.

This Paper Artsy ETS20, stamp would get a similar result.

This floral stencil is from Tim Holtz THS705.

To finish this one off, I used a Happy Birthday stamp and a die from my stash.

For this any occasion card, I used some words from Pink Fresh Studio, "Escape the Ordinary".

Vicki has heaps of phrase stickers to choose from,
this one from 13@rts would work well too.

The stencil I used for the flowers is from Paper Artsy 085
These word stickers are from the same Pink Fresh pack.

I hope you find time to play along, just add your entry to the Scrap Matrix Shares page in the corresponding folder and don't forget to let us know what Scrap Matrix products you used and what inspired you.  You could be in the running for a generous gift voucher or perhaps a Guest Design Team spot down the track.

January 2019 - The year in review with Helen

Happy New Year - I wish you good health, happiness
and lots of creativity throughout 2019.

The Scrap Matrix mood board this month
is eclectic, with lots of different ideas to inspire you.

The theme is a Year in review, so you can take this
pretty much any where you want.

I should warn you that this is a long post, so you might like to get a cuppa before you start.

The team has been gently coaxed into trying a double pager, multiple photos or both; something I agreed to willy nilly.
Huh!  Silly me.  Lol.

I seemed to have forgotten all the rules, was bereft of ideas
and numerous pages ended up in the bin.
Luckily one of my wise team mates advised me to just step awaaaay
from the desk and that did the trick.

My project is about various events in my Grand Daughter's life during December 2018.

To begin with, I chose three colours from the clothes in the photos and created some backgrounds with a Gel plate and some Paper Artsy paints. Doesn't sound too hard does it, but what a mighty mess I made until I remembered what to do.

This photo was taken before the yellow was added to the gel plate, but you can see it in the middle of the first pulled print below.

I simply placed a piece of card stock down on the rolled paint, smoothed it out firmly with my hands and pulled it off the gel plate.

Ta Da!   Or some times - Oh no!
I never know what the result will be and that's part of the fun.

Using a Stencil similar to this one Paper Artsy StencilI roughly dabbed some of the purple paint onto the green and trimmed it into a squarish shape.

I lined up the stencil so I could continue it off the background and onto the card stock, then I outlined the petals with a gold pen and doodled around the frame.

Some more stamping with Carabelle "Et rond et roads" and stencil work with a smaller Paper artsy stencil, PS111.

A gorgeous stamped butterfly, Paper Artsy ETS22, some stamped words, Paper Artsy EEA03 as well as some pops
of red to tie in with the red on the other page. They embellishments are from Pink Fresh studio, Gold foiled die cuts.

Now for some - yes - you guessed it - some more stamping!

I'm a big fan of Carabelle stamps - this one is
"Textures: Mini Fleurettes. I added some bunches into the corners.

To obtain the patterned circle under the photo, I brayered some green and purple paint onto the gel plate, then placed a the Paper Artsy stencil into the wet paint, layered a piece of card stock on top, burnished the card stock well with my hand and then pulled the card stock off to reveal the monoprint.

The purple flowers in the corner have faded a bit here, due to me whitening the whites, but in real life they are crisp and pretty.

Did you notice the sweet butterfly stamp, Paper Artsy, ETS21 with the golden prills in the centre? and the pretty brass heart shape that matches my girl's dance trophy?

This photo shows you what the mono print looks like before it's trimmed and dressed.  One more butterfly again from Paper Artsy, this time from ETS22.

Phewww!  Are you still with me? Thanks for staying until the end. I hope you found something to intrigue and inspire you to get messy with your paints and stencils.
