Tam's back with more Art Journaling

Hi all!
Tam here again with another Art Journal Share inspired by the current 'Stay home' Challenge.
I just love all the housey inspired creations you are coming up with.
For this one I decided NOT to use houses!
Here we go...

You see I'd not long purchased those Kate Crane face it stamps by Carabelle and was busting to used them, so thought about when this is over....when we are no longer in isolation, and the quote
"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise"
popped into my head, and then I thought of rainbows, and hills and joy (hmmmm insert song "The Hills are alive" in here). Lol

These are the products I used:
(well most of them)

I began by adding white gesso to my Dina Wakley Art Journal.

Whilst waiting for this to dry, I grabbed my new Kate Crane Stamps - Face It
some of the Smooth Bazzill Cardstock and black ink.

I stamped them out, and then coloured them in using Art by Marlene Watercolours.

Once cut out, I felt they needed bodies so I grabbed my new PaperArtsy Mini stamps and hand drew some shapes, stamping in them to give them some texture and interest.

Instead of drawing arms, I decided to give them wings, as they are now free from isolation.
I used the heart stamp as wings.
As you know I love using stamps for something different than intended.

How cute are they?
I love their dresses and the way the mini stamps turned out.

I then decided to create a sunrise background for that quote, and a rainbow.
I grabbed PaperArtsy Paints in the rainbow colours -
'Red Lipstick', 'Tango', 'Banana', 'Slimed', 'China', 'Electric Violet'.

I then remembered that the TCW Stencil called 'Sun Valley' had a sunrise element.
I wiped the 'Tango' and 'Banana' paint through the stencil with a dry baby wipe to create the sunrise.

I then painted a rainbow above this.

Whilst the paint was still wet, I rubbed through it using the 'TCW Stencil Sweet Posy' and a wet baby wipe.

I then painted in some hills using 'Polished Jade' by Dylusions and 'Slimed' by PaperArtsy.
I mixed them together for the hill on the right.
I then used TCW 'Brick Poetry' Stencil to add texture.

I then added 'Sky' by Dina Wakley for the sky.

I then adhered my girls onto the page using Gel Medium and added in some details with pen.
I also added in some flower using tiny dots of paint.

I also added in some of my own thoughts and feelings about the current situation.
It felt right to add it to the rainbow.
It reads:
"And when it was safe for the people to come outside again;
everything had changed.
They had changed.
Their disconnect had reconnected them.
To each other.
To the Earth.
To themselves.
To the magic of living.
They were able to see with new eyes
The beauty that surrounded them.
The beauty in each other.
Not only did they see differently.
They moved differently.
They moved with gentleness.
They moved with kindness.
They moved with togetherness."

Finally I went around the edges of the girls using Graphite Sticks.
This brings them forward into the foreground.

There you have it!

Keep those entries coming!
Keep up with the creating.
Stay safe and stay colourful.
Much love
xx

And the World Came Together...

Hi everyone!

Here we are in June.  Probably one of my favourite months of the year, (and not because of my birthday).
I like June because the temperature finally starts to fall and the mornings are a bit nippy.   The early morning air is crisp and usually the sky is crystal clear and the stars shining brightly.  I used to enjoy sleeping in, but I don't often get the chance nowadays.  My household wakes up at 4:30am.

Enough about me,  I have a journal page for you today, (I've used my large Dylusions Journal).  I’m not sure where the idea came from.  I do spend parts of my day looking a Pinterest and Instagram and all the crafty people on social media.  I could have seen something like it, or something very similar, but this is my take on it.

I wanted something soft for the background, something that looked a little like the sky. I’ve used Paperartsy Fresco paints.  The colours I chose were Antarctic, Mermaid, Summer Sky, Seaglass and Lilac.  I sponged blocks of colour over my page leaving a space in the centre for the heart.  Next I used one of my favourite TCW mandala 6 inch stencils and sponged more colour over the page.
Next I stamped my Paperartsy stamps EM 60, EM63 and EM50 using Archival Inks in Sky Blue, French Ultramarine and Pink Peony randomly over the page.  Then using my white and light blue Posca pens I added some highlights.

The next bit I did while home schooling my 11 year-old niece and nephew.  I have a new appreciation for teachers.  (Trying to explain fractions, decimals, adverbs, similes and metaphors is not one of my strong points.)  I used my Art by Marlene collage papers to make my little houses.  I sat at my kitchen table cutting out squares, rectangles and triangles while my two ‘students’ looked at me as if I had lost the plot.  I also cut out my heart shape from these papers as well.   ( Sorry about the glare in the photo).

My next step was to paint my world in the centre.  Again I used PaperartsyFresco paints in Green Patina and China.   I wanted to create the illusion of land and water but most of it got covered by the heart.  I outlined the planet with a black Pitt pen and smudged it.  In hindsight I should have used grey.  (Sigh! Too late now. )  I attached the heart and houses using matte gel medium.  I doodled again with my white Posca pen and went around the edges of my houses with a grey water colour pencil and a wet paintbrush.  I added the quote “And the world came together as the people stayed apart.” (Jennifer Wagner) in Posca pen as well.

And that’s it.  All done.  Luckily for me the kids are back in school and I only have to put up with them for a couple of hours after school.   I just hope the sun comes out soon.

Stay At Home - Art Journal Page by Lynn

Hi everyone, I cant believe it is the start of another month already!  The good thing about that - it is new challenge time!!!!!  This months challenge is a moodboard all about houses.

I have not been one of the ones that have been able to stay home, I have had to go to work each day and as I live in the country live has not been too different for me.

This moodboard was certainly a favourite of mine - colour and houses - what a great combination.
I'd like to take the time to acknowledge the amazing artists and work on pinterest (where all these images are from)
They definitely provide us with sooo much inspiration.

Here is my page

I have created this in my Dylusions Large Art Journal.  After covering the page with gesso I got to play with the new Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays   - Marine, Fuchsia and Lemon.

I love how these paints interact with each other - and the desire to dry was difficult to resist but with being plastic paints heat is not recommended.
As I am not a patient person I decided to use another piece of paper to mop up the excess

I LOVED how it pulled the paint and created texture.  The paint has dried a little and when I pulled the piece of paper off  (I have used Paper Artsy Smoothy cardstock) it lifted the paint in areas which created a real rough feel that I love.- I have put the piece on the right to the side and will use this on my next project later in the month.

While the paint was drying I got a second piece of Paper Artsy Smoothy Cardstock and painted stripes using Dylusion Paints - Tropical Sangria, Sour Appletini, Mango Punch and Lemon Drop.  There are the new colours from Dylusions and are so delicious.

I have then stamped the houses stamp from Paper Artsy ZA40

I have then used Dylusion Paint Pens and Posca white and black pens to colour the images which I adhered to the page.  The title I have stamped with Tim Holtz Block Upper Case stamp and Black Ink.

I have then written around the houses in a black Posca Pen.

Here are some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have time this month to create a layout, art journal page, card etc and go into the challenge to win a voucher to spend at Scrap Matrix.

It is super simple to enter - just upload your project to the relevant album in the Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook page and let us know what product (s) you have used that is available or you purchased from Scrap Matrix.

Til next time - Happy Crafting.

Stay Home
With Lisa Amiet

Hello all!
It's Lisa here today to share my latest creation with you.
Our theme this month is all about HOME!

This is what I have created in my Art Journal

I have started with some hills painted using 'Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paint' in 'Granny Smith'.
I then added in some sky in using 'Turquoise'.

I have cut my house from some of the papers in the 'Art by Marlene Collage #4'.
I have also fussy cut my bushes and flowers, and attic window,
 from these same collage papers.

I have used my 'Art by Marlene Watercolor Whimsy & Bright Set'
to paint in the path, and the roof of my house.

I have used some 'Dina Wakley Acrylic Paint' in 'Lemon', for my door.
I have used some of the '13Arts Journey Word Stickers' & 'Marta's Small Words'
to add some very relevant sentiments to my page.

I have then added in a sun, and a plane with a banner telling us to STAY HOME!
A few clouds and some birds.
I have also outlined my house with a black pen, to make it stand out a little more ;)

I hope that you like what I have created.

Until next time!

Lisa

Stay in Bed!! -Tanya Froud

Hi Guys Tanya here!

This months Stay home challenge is a fantastic way to reflect on the past month as we start to emerge from our homes and back into the world slowly.

Tammy has found some stella examples from some talented artists on pinterest to inspire us all this month!

I decided to make my own 3D mini house..
I started out by using a popper (empty and washed out) and coated it in a layer of white gesso and let it dry.

Next up I created some collage paper using Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays ,random stencils and stamps onto deli paper

Once dry I then collaged the paper onto the popper by tearing it up into small pieces and attaching it with Gel Medium

Once covered in your pretty collage paper its time to build a roof, grab  a bit of cardboard and peel back a layer to reveal the ridged cardboard (like a tin roof) and cut it to size , Then stick it to the house and then paint it in a coordinating color (I used Dina Wakley Acrylic Paint)
Stick it all together add a base and then I added a quote from the Back Chat stickers

Well that's it from me! I'm looking forward to what you all create!
